Skálafell is closed this winter

Skiers

Green runs are for beginners.

Blue runs are easy trails suitable for anyone with basic skiing skills.

Red runs are only suitable for skilled skiers who want speed and steeper slopes.

Black runs are only suitable for expert skiers.

For beginners, we especially recommend staying near the lodges, where the most comfortable slopes are located.

Snowboarders

We urge snowboarders to exercise caution around snow cornices outside the designated ski area due to avalanche risk.

According to ski area safety rules, snowboarders must always keep one foot unstrapped in the chairlift and must use a safety leash attached to their board.

Cross-country Skiing

East of the ski area, there are groomed cross-country trails when conditions permit. They vary in length across diverse terrain that tests the skier’s abilities.

We encourage cross-country skiers to purchase a day pass at least once during the winter to support further development of cross-country skiing facilities in Skálafell.

Accidents and Incidents

If skiers experience accidents, our specially trained staff are always ready to assist.

In case of serious accidents, bystanders should seek help from the nearest staff member, who will notify specially trained first aid responders who will act according to the situation. Minor injuries are treated at the Service Center.

Staff members are both willing and obligated to provide any assistance they are capable of offering.
