The cross-country skiing area has been expanding with increasing popularity and offers trails for all skill levels. Trails are kept open and well-groomed according to conditions, with selected routes illuminated in the evenings. Skiing is excellent exercise suitable for everyone.

The ideal parking for cross-country skiers is west of the Ármann ski lodge and across from the Breiðablik lodge.

The Ullur Cross-Country Ski Club lodge is located on the southern slope of the hill west of Suðurgil. It offers facilities for cross-country skiers to wax their skis and eat packed lunches, and the lodge hosts cross-country skiing training sessions and public courses. The club has a limited amount of cross-country skiing equipment available for rent, both for children and adults.

Restroom facilities are available at the parking area between Gosinn and the Ullur lodge.

Bláfjöll – Information

8/5 2026 kl. 12:37

An incredible winter has just ended at Bláfjöll. A winter that even the most experienced individuals thought would never come, but it did. It’s naturally exceptional that hardly any natural snow fell during the winter months themselves—November, December, January, and almost all of February. And not only that, the temperatures during these months were so high that snowmaking was almost never possible. Twice during the winter, around mid-December and mid-January, we had nearly completed snowmaking on all the runs where we have snowmaking capabilities, but both times a thaw set in and everything washed away.
Once again, the importance of snowmaking was proven, though it certainly wasn’t as obvious as in the last two winters. The importance of snow fences and terrain shaping was also proven. This summer, significant terrain shaping was done at Gosi along with new snow fences. Gosi was the first lift in the area to open on terrain without snowmaking. It opened on the 7th day of general operation, or March 1st. General operation had until then been made possible by snowmaking.

The resort was open for 31 days this winter. 54,855 guests passed through the lift access gates and 294 guests passed through the cross-country skiing area access gate.

We can certainly be satisfied after this strange winter where snow didn’t appear until late February.

Thanks for the season and see you refreshed next winter.
