Bláfjöll – Information

8/5 2026 kl. 12:37

An incredible winter has just ended at Bláfjöll. A winter that even the most experienced individuals thought would never come, but it did. It’s naturally exceptional that hardly any natural snow fell during the winter months themselves—November, December, January, and almost all of February. And not only that, the temperatures during these months were so high that snowmaking was almost never possible. Twice during the winter, around mid-December and mid-January, we had nearly completed snowmaking on all the runs where we have snowmaking capabilities, but both times a thaw set in and everything washed away.
Once again, the importance of snowmaking was proven, though it certainly wasn’t as obvious as in the last two winters. The importance of snow fences and terrain shaping was also proven. This summer, significant terrain shaping was done at Gosi along with new snow fences. Gosi was the first lift in the area to open on terrain without snowmaking. It opened on the 7th day of general operation, or March 1st. General operation had until then been made possible by snowmaking.

The resort was open for 31 days this winter. 54,855 guests passed through the lift access gates and 294 guests passed through the cross-country skiing area access gate.

We can certainly be satisfied after this strange winter where snow didn’t appear until late February.

Thanks for the season and see you refreshed next winter.

Ski Slopes

Bláfjöll offers ski slopes suitable for everyone. Snow fences ensure the best snow accumulation for early opening, and their number increases every year. Beginner slopes are located near the lodge, and there’s a snow park with jumps for snowboarders and freestyle skiers.
